After a rigorous application and interview process, sixteen Salt Lake City School District (the district) high schoolers have officially signed on as part of the district’s newest cohort of apprentices. Students learned at Signing Day ceremony on Thursday, May 9, 2024, the company to which they will be assigned for the next three years.

Gov. Spencer J. Cox and Talent Ready Utah, in partnership with the Utah State Board of Education, are pleased to announce the launch of the Utah Adopt-A-School program. Today, the governor issued an invitation to Utah businesses to help support Utah’s K-12 schools and provide access to new opportunities for Utah students.

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox took a brief break from the legislative session Wednesday to be on hand at the Stadler Rail facility to announce the launch of a first-of-its-kind program that provides work-based learning opportunities for K-12 students across the state.

New program uses the European model to give students training for advanced manufacturing through a hybrid model blending an apprenticeship with coursework at Salt Lake Community College.
